Saya Woolfalk (MFA 2004), a sculptor and multimedia artist, talks about how graduate school at SAIC impacted her practice by pushing her work into new territory. Woolfalk says her “soft sculptures” always had a performance element, but she had never considered manipulating them in film or building them into installations until she was working and collaborating at SAIC—the results of which can be seen in her most recent project, The Empathics.
